Good Morning,

I’m pretty sure I pronounce Broderie Anglaise wrong every single time I say it but I guess until someone corrects me, I’ll continue to do so. It is one of my favourite styles, obviously not as much as lace but it’s similar and can be just as pretty and intricate.

Typically, it comes in the form of cotton or linen which is perfect for this time of year and the warmer temperatures. It’s important to wear breathable fabrics as there’s nothing worse than being uncomfortable due to wearing a thick or restrictive materials.

My last Broderie Anglaise top travelled far and wide with me to places such as Paris, Dubai, Tunisia and London to name a few. I made so many great memories in those places and I think that’s why I was sad when the top had reached it’s expiry point. It wasn’t just that I could no longer wear it, it was a reminder of the memories I’d made while wearing it and for that reason I still have it as I can’t bear to get rid of it. I remember celebrating my birthday in Paris wearing it while opening gifts from my friends. These are fond memories and for that reason it’s something I’ll hold on to for a while even though it’s no longer wearable.

My last one was from River Island and when I seen this latest style from them, I knew I had to get it as the quality is always of the highest standard and I got a lot of wear out of the last. I decided to go against my normal instinct and go for the blue this time as let’s face it, I have enough white in my collection. I had to be a bit patient with this one which doesn’t come naturally for me. The top was out of stock in my size online and in nearby stores but luckily my friend spotted it was back in stock one lunchtime and I managed to snap it up before it went out of stock again. It’s worth noting they have a lot of similar styles at the moment so if you’re looking for something it’s worth checking them out as although this particular top might be out of stock, they do have alternatives which are just a nice.

The pastel shade of blue is absolutely beautiful and it will be perfect for summer. Blue is one of my favourite colours and I feel it really suits my skin tone. The open embroidery detail is stunning and intricate enough without being too much.

My initial thought was to wear with white jeans then I remembered I don’t own white jeans and I’ve always had a love/hate relationship with them so probably won’t ever buy a pair. Instead I paired with white shorts and I think it works really well. Apart from the fact the heatwave had gone and I was absolutely freezing as you can probably see from the goosebumps on my legs. The crisp white of the shorts is a good contrast to the beautiful pastel blue and cut out detailing.

This is a good example of sticking to what you know and what suits you but just changing it slightly with a different colour to keep things fresh and exciting.
