5 things you might not know about me:

1 I love Formula 1 Motor Racing

As someone who is very risk averse, this may be surprising with the speed and dangers inevitably involved in motor racing but I love it and I can’t wait for the new season to start.

2 I can speak 5 foreign languages (not fluently)

I’ve previously studied Arabic, French, Spanish, Italian, Russian, Portuguese. Yes you’ve counted 6 however I can hardly remember a single word of Portuguese therefore I don’t really include that one. I actually found Portuguese really difficult. I don’t know if it’s because I was studying it at the same time as Spanish and Italian and my brain was just like nooooooo or if it’s generally a difficult language to learn. Strangely I found Russian easier even though I only completed a 5 week course. My tutor Tania was incredible although extremely tough but I loved that course and can still remember everything I learned.

3 I used to live in Dubai

If you search back in the archives you’ll probably find some posts about my previous job as an Air Stewardess with Emirates Airlines. Dubai is an intriguing place with contrasts at every opportunity. I had an amazing 6 months in the sandpit and I wouldn’t change the experience for the world. It challenged me in ways I could never have imagined but I learned so much and made the greatest friends.

4 I don’t drink alcohol

I haven’t had an alcoholic drink since I was about 18 years old. I could never handle alcohol and always ended up in a bad way after a night of drinking. Generally, I just didn’t enjoy it. One day I decided it wasn’t worth it and I have to say, I definitely don’t miss it. I still go out regularly with my friend’s and have a great time dancing the night away. The only difference is I get in my car and drive straight home afterwards which is an absolute pleasure.

5 I don’t eat meat but I’m not a vegetarian

Let me explain – I don’t like meat. I don’t like the taste, I don’t like the texture and I’ve gone most of my adult life without it. It’s easier to say I’m a vegetarian if someone’s cooking for me or sometimes in a restaurant but I don’t like people to think I have a problem with others eating meat if that makes sense. It’s just not for me. Over the years I’ve tried to reintroduce turkey and sometimes chicken into my diet as it is difficult to sustain a balanced diet with limited protein options and there are times when I just get bored of the limited variety. I have managed to eat turkey or chicken for small periods of time but not for the long haul. Who know’s, maybe one day it will click and I’ll find it delicious but in the meantime I’ll continue as I am.

xo!
