Good Morning!
As we move through to AW16, the pretty, flirty and sweet summer outfits get packed away and out comes the bolder, tougher and darker outfits. I’m definitely falling back into a monochrome funk constantly reverting to black and white outfits whenever possible and today’s outfit is a prime example of that.
First of all, let’s talk about the boots. I purchased them last week from Topshop and they certainly didn’t disappoint. Yes they are very similar to a well known designer pair therefore if you’re looking to bag a bargain you’ll definitely need to be quick as I’m sure they’ll get snapped up in no time at all. I particularly love the stud detailing. It definitely adds attitude and is unlike any other pair of shoes or boots I own hence the reason I felt they would be a good fit for my wardrobe.
Next up is the blouse. There is a bit of story behind this. Have you ever been in the situation where you lay eyes on something and no matter what you need to have it? I certainly have and that’s exactly what happened with this one. I was browsing in H&M and right at the back of a rail, behind a different style of blouse, lay this absolute beauty. I was instantly smitten and feeling pretty giddy – I know how sad! Anyway after a few minutes disappointment sunk in as I realised there was only one, it was a size 10 and it had a make up stain on the inside. Damn it! Not one to give up I searched the website to see if I could order a fresh new one in the correct size. Unfortunately the website didn’t have any sign of it and even now, 4 weeks on I’ve yet to see it again either in store or online. Anyway I decided since it had a make up stain I would ask for a discount on it (brass neck) and that would make up (no pun intended) for the fact that it wasn’t the correct size. The girl was kind enough to offer me an extra 15% off and I was delighted. I’ve no doubt if I find it in the correct size I will buy another one. It’s so pretty and the black beaded detailing is so simple yet so chic at the same time. I love the high neck collar and the sleeves rolled up add a bit of finesse.
The overall look is exactly what I wanted to express – attitude with the boots softened by the pretty detailing of the blouse. Some days that’s the blend of emotions you go through – soft and pretty on top, hard and aggressive underneath. That’s life…
