Top 3 Spa’s in Glasgow

Good Morning,

Today’s post is a little different from the usual outfit posts but something I’ve wanted to share for a while. I’m a huge fan of a spa day and there’s nothing more indulgent than treating yourself to a day of pampering and relaxation whilst the world continues to move at a million miles a minute. A spa day is also the perfect gift for birthdays, Christmas, for a new mum or for someone who just deserves a treat.

Glasgow is fortunate enough to have a lot of good spa’s in the area and a vast selection depending on what suits your needs from a country retreat to city centre opulence.

Today I’m sharing my top 3.

1. Carrick Spa – Cameron House

My first visit to Cameron House was on 1st February 2016 after a weekend in Paris. I’d got a deal a few months earlier and we had a thermal experience and rhassoul therapy. Oh my gosh when we entered the spa area I was absolutely amazed at the design, style and quality. There are so many different rooms and thermal experiences and it never feels busy because of all the different areas. I returned recently, treating my mum for her birthday. We had the best day and left feeling refreshed and relaxed.

On the ground floor level, there is a 20m indoor tranquility pool with jacuzzi. The feel of place is so quiet and calming. The jacuzzi is small but lovely and warm and perfect for a plunge after a swim in the pool.

On the first floor there are various thermal experiences such as Tepidarium, Caldarium, Sauna & Infrared Sauna, Hammam Room, Aromatherapy Room along with a Hydrotherapy Pool. This is my favourite area as there’s so much to do and each is a different experience which relaxes and rejuvenates the mind and body.

On the second floor, there is a rooftop infinity pool. How amazing! With views of the beautiful countryside, it’s a little piece of heaven. Getting in and out of the pool is a challenge particularly with the freezing temperatures but it’s all worth it as the temperature of the pool is incredibly hot and combined with the crisp fresh Scottish air, it’s definitely a unique experience.

If you’re looking for a luxurious spa experience I’d highly recommend Cameron House.

2. Blythswood Square Hotel

Set in the heart of the City Centre, this spa is literally a hidden gem under the hustle and bustle of the streets above. In the basement of the beautiful Blythswood Square hotel, lies an indulgent spa with various treatment rooms, thermal experience and hydro pool for the ultimate escape from City life.

The blue and purple tones of lighting creates a cosy and comfortable atmosphere whilst going between the different thermal experience rooms from the Sauna to the Crystal Steam Room to the Jacuzzi and Hydro pool.

Aside from the relaxation and indulgence of the spa, the spa cafe is also a treat. Enjoying afternoon tea or lunch in your robe after having spent a few hours in the spa is the best way to finish off the day. If you opt for the afternoon tea (which I’d highly recommend) you’ll enjoy a 3 tier stand of sandwiches, scones and a variety of cakes all to yourself. In most places, the 3 tiers are for 2 people sharing but not at Blythswood. They’re also very good with changing the sandwich combinations (if you’re fussy like me) and accommodating any allergies.

If you’re looking for an escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life, I’d highly recommend a spa day followed by afternoon tea at Blythswood Square.

3. Mar Hall Hotel

For my birthday last year my dear friend’s treated me to a spa day at Mar Hall Hotel. If you don’t already know about Mar Hall, it’s one of the most exclusive hotels in the Glasgow area. By exclusive, I mean Beyonce stays here when she’s on tour. That’s how good it is.

The spa consists of a pool, sauna and steam room plus various treatment rooms and a quiet relaxation area where you can literally fall asleep with a cosy throw. If you love sleeping as much as I do, you’ll love this part especially after having a massage or facial.

The heat in the pool area is probably my favourite part which might sound strange but I love the feeling of heat on my bones and it’s the right kind of heat. Not humid and sweaty but dry and intense and I could literally lie there all day reading a book or magazine, dozing on and off.

If you’re looking for a spa retreat I’d highly recommend Mar Hall.

xo!
