Ruffled

Good Morning,

The glorious weather of the last few weeks allowed outfit choices that would normally be reserved for far flung vacations to be worn day to day whilst basking in the amazing sunshine. What a different a little bit of vitamin D makes, everyone is happy, everyone is out and life is generally good even if there’s nothing particularly exciting happening. Spending time outside with family and friends is one of those simple things that I cherish and soak up every moment as sadly it doesn’t happen frequently enough. Sitting out with the girls for our lunch hour or chasing my twin nieces round the garden after work are just a couple of the moments I’ve really enjoyed these last few weeks.

Anyway in these moments it’s all too easy to throw on a pair of denim shorts and a basic top that you might have had for years instead of delving a bit further into our wardrobes and finding some really lovely outfit combinations that you might not have considered otherwise.

I’m really guilty of this and often prefer to keep my holiday clothes ‘good’ and only specifically for holidays which is so unnecessary. Last week in a moment of haste I put together a really nice outfit that I would never have considered wearing in Glasgow.

I picked up this beautiful Bardot ruffle top from Zara about a month ago. The linen style material is really breathable and although there are a lot of layers, it’s so light and airy that you don’t feel too hot when we do get a random but extremely welcome heatwave. The ruched cuff sleeves add some detail and help with the shape as sometimes with lots of layers it can be overwhelming and swamp the figure. This brings the sleeves back in line which is a nice touch.

The shorts are oldies but goodies and I usually take them on each holiday as a backup option as they just work really well with a tan and are easy to throw on at night. The high waist style is ideal and helps elongate the legs. The lace detail on the shorts works well with the tone of the top and blends it all together.

These Castaner wedges are a firm favourite and work perfectly with the entire outfit. The tie up lace is a lovely detail that can be used in different ways i.e. tied to the front, back or side depending on the outfit.
