Two Midi Skirts

Good Morning,

How lovely was it to have a weekend of end to end sunshine? I loved it and managed to cram a lot in although nothing particularly exciting but I did get to spend quality time with family and friends which is the most important part.

I hastily packed my suitcase for Mexico last week in a panic as I have a lot on over the next week before I jet off and I really don’t enjoy being unorganised which means I had all my best summer outfits in a suitcase. The heatwave resulted in me having to dip in and out of the suitcase to pick out some key pieces and now they need washed and re-ironed before being squeezed back in the case.

It’s typical but I’m certainly not complaining. I wish the weather was like this every summer, it lifts your spirits and allows you to get out and do things that just aren’t fun in the rain.

Anyway two things I hadn’t yet packed but planned to were these beautiful midi skirts. I picked them up a few years ago from Whistles (in the sale – result) and they were/are the best buys ever. I bring them out every Spring/Summer and take them on most holidays. They still look as good as new, the quality is exceptional and they’ll never go out of style. They also don’t crease which is amazing and makes them the perfect option for holidays.

The pink is simply stunning and definitely one of the most girly pieces I own. It’s the perfect length with the pleated detail holding it’s shape and flowing beautifully as you walk. The colour is ideal, not too bright but not too pale either. It certainly holds it own and always gets compliments. The blue is a bit more reserved if that makes sense. It’s simple with no design or pattern but really chic for that very reason. The baby blue is gorgeous and goes perfectly with all my grey accessories.

With such elegance I didn’t want to take anything away from the skirt with a bold or overwhelming top. As the pink has the pleated detail, I kept it simple with a white bodysuit. The ruffle is just enough detail without being too much. The crisp white against the pastel pink is perfect for summer. For the blue, I paired with a new top from French Connection. I always go through phases of buying everything from there then I go months or maybe a year with nothing catching my eye. This top got me straight away and it was sold out in my size. That’s always a driver for me to make sure I do whatever I can to get my hands on it even if it’s not something I really need. I scoured the internet and checked my ASOS saved items daily to see if it would come back in stock. No such luck until one day I spotted it on Zalando. I ordered immediately and then had that realisation that it wasn’t something I really needed and might end up lying in a drawer. When it arrived I instantly knew that wouldn’t be the case. I kept it handy as I figured it would get worn before Mexico with the proposed temperatures and I was right. It’s the perfect little off the shoulder number with the ruffle edging giving a luxurious feeling. Sometimes French Connection can be quite masculine but this season they have really nailed it with lots of white lace and pretty dresses.

Anyway I hope you’ve enjoyed this post and gained some summer outfit inspiration.
