Dream Dress

Good Morning,

While watching Fashion Mumblr’s Thailand Lookbook, right at the end she wears the most beautiful maxi dress which I simply could not resist.

It was two days before my trip to Mexico, the dress was 50% off in the sale and they had a size 4 or a size 14 left. It felt like it was fate. I selected the 4 which is my usual size in Reiss and opted for next day delivery hoping there would be no courier issues to contend with.

I worked from home the next day to receive the delivery and as it was my last day at work with a load of stuff to get through without distraction.

I constantly refreshed the tracking page when eventually about 11am it changed to ‘out for delivery’. Phew. I was beginning to panic thinking it hadn’t made it on to the van.

The doorbell went about 12pm and I ran down the stairs quicker than ever. Usually I discipline myself to wait until lunch time or the end of the day to try something on that arrived while I’m working from home but this day was different. I had to know if it fit or if I had to make a quick dash back to the post office to return it before I jetted off for two weeks with a 14 day return policy.

I put the dress on, fastened the zip and little button between the back straps and looked in the mirror. I couldn’t believe it fit perfectly. Not in terms of sizing but the length too. Yes it was long but it was supposed to be a floor length maxi. With heels it would be perfect.

I carefully wrapped back in the tissue paper and secured in my suitcase. There was only one place the dress was going – Mexico.

I knew I’d save it for the last few days of my trip when my tan was at its peak and I was completely relaxed and feeling rejuvenated. It wouldn’t really have mattered when I wore it to be honest, it’s one of those pieces that you put on and instantly feel a million dollars.

I wore with my Castaner Wedges as they were the only heels I took on holiday. I would have preferred an open toe shoe like my Steve Madden Slithur heels as there’s a lot of material and the shoes are very enclosed. A barely there sandal would also have worked but hopefully I’ll get another opportunity to wear it when I can do that. Maybe in Paris. Can you imagine this at sunset at the Eiffel Tower? That might be an option.

It’s honestly a dream to wear and I received a lot of looks the night I wore it.

It’s gone down even further in price to £85 (absolute steal) and is still available at Selfridges in most sizes.
