Good Morning,
Ever feel like things just come together in the moment & you couldn’t possibly have planned it to work out any better? Unfortunately that’s not been a very common theme this year however that is how I feel about these photos.
I generally take my blog photos around the west end area of Glasgow and try and switch it up by using different locations and different backdrops. It’s very easy to get stuck in a rut of going to the same places as you get used to them, you get familiar with the people around and you understand the light and good angles however if you continue to do the same things, you will continue to get the same results.
Last week we were shooting outside a particular building and in the heat of the moment when a resident came out, I sneaked inside. I had spied the beautiful atrium area from the glass doors and an instagram friendly courtyard area so decided to take the plunge and chance my luck. I figured the worst that could happen was someone asking us to leave which I would have totally understood but thankfully it didn’t come to that.
I’ve been working really hard on my content over the last few months and as much as I put a lot of effort in, there is always room for improvement. These photos are some of my favourite to date and it has taken a lot for me to say that out loud. In the moment, everything came together and I wanted to emphasise how difficult it can be for that to happen. For some people, it happens every time but for others its few and far between. The outfit, the mood, the vibe and the feel just works and I know I’ll look back on these and remember the risk we took to get the shot but it was so worth it.
I’m definitely prepared to be more daring and a bit bolder when it comes to taking photos in public places. It’s incredibly awkward, I’m not confident in front of the camera and I always feel like a wally but I know that when I push through that barrier I’ve created in my mind, it pays off and the content speaks for itself.
p.s Zara have brought this playsuit out in monochrome and best believe I bought it.
xo!
