Navy Teddy Coat

Good Morning,

I seem to have developed a bit of an obsession with coats recently having added a number to my collection. I’ve probably contradicted myself as I’m sure I’ve said previously that I don’t particularly like wearing coats and jackets as they can hide or take attention away from an outfit. Up until now I’ve most likely been buying the wrong kind of coats and I now understand the importance of a statement coat which through Autumn and Winter, becomes the focal point of your outfit rather than what’s underneath.

I’m a bit of a sucker for a teddy style coat. There’s nothing I love more than being cosy, it’s a simple thing but shouldn’t be underestimated and the teddy style lends itself perfectly to cosiness. I spotted a girl in Zara wearing this particular coat with a Louis Vuitton bag and she was just the epitome of chic. I had spotted the coat online before seeing it in the flesh and styled perfectly but decided against it having already added a bold, teddy style coat to my wardrobe this season.

After seeing it in person I couldn’t stop thinking about it and how parisian it could look with breton stripes underneath and how it was the perfect match for my new tweed Kensington bag. I accepted defeat and ordered it with the bonus of a discount code for £10 off. Delivery was attempted while there was no one in and the coat ended up sitting at the sorting office for about 4 days before finally being united with its rightful owner. I knew the minute I took it out the packaging that there was no chance of it being returned but when I tried it on I was concerned it was too long for my petite frame. I sent pics to my friends for feedback, while secretly hoping they’d say it looked fine and wasn’t too long for my short legs.

I immediately had 4 or 5 different outfit combinations lined up and plenty more ideas floating around and I find this is always a sign of a great purchase. On the other hand I bought another teddy style (what is wrong with me) bomber jacket from Zara and it’s currently sat in the box with its fate yet to be decided as I can’t think of more than one or two outfit ideas which isn’t sufficient enough to justify a £50 spend on ANOTHER teddy style jacket. Told you I’m a sucker for cosiness.

Do you have a particular item you can’t stop buying this season?
