We’re well into Autumn now and although I have a few thick cosy coats already in my wardrobe, I made space for one more.
Last year I lusted after a similar style in cream from Topshop but in the end decided against it as it always ends up getting dirty or a stain of some sort especially if you’re the clumsy type or forever spilling things like I do.
I spotted this one whilst out shopping one day but decided against it even though I thought it was absolutely beautiful. I’m having a bit of a moment with pink if you hadn’t already noticed and my friends are always encouraging me to experiment more with colour.
A few weeks after seeing it in store, ASOS had 20% off so instead of a pricey £95, I snapped it up for £75.
It’s a really thick curly knit fabric which holds its shape well and gives that full and fluffy teddy bear look. I have a cream teddy coat which I got from Primark a few years ago and although the quality is great for Primark, it doesn’t compare at all to this. You can see and feel the difference instantly. The lining is also absolutely stunning with a luxurious floral design that you can catch a glimpse of as the wind has caught my coat in one of the pictures.
I’ve kept it simple underneath with a high neck jumper and high waist pleated skirt. I love layering at this time of year to keep warm and to help contend with the rapidly changing weather conditions. This outfit is a great example of how to layer without literally drowning in material. I’m wearing a long sleeve top and although quite a thin knit, the high neck of the jumper along with the narrow wrist sleeves helps to create a thermal effect which slightly compensates for the bare legs.
The coat itself can be thrown over the shoulder as demonstrated or on colder days worn properly and with a hat and scarf for complete cosiness.
I’m glad I waited it out for this coat as it’s such an indulgent purchase. Not in the financial sense but in terms of practicality and for the crisp winter days to come. I’ll also be able to wear in Venice in March which I can’t wait for. Imagine in Burano, with the backdrop of all the colourful buildings and this perfect pastel pink marshmallow of fluffiness. Love it!
