I mentioned recently my plan to purchase a camel coat & I’m pleased to report I found a style and shape I love. Being a classic item, it’s something you can find in stores quite easily and particularly at this time of year which makes it a great time to snap one up. I always knew I wanted a tailored style and it also had to be double breasted. I’d seen one in River Island which was also lovely but it was single breasted and that was pretty much the deal breaker.
I was browsing Topshop for a gift for a friends birthday when I came across this one which just happened to be in a seasonal offers 30% off section. The soft brushed finish is stunning and the shade of nude is exactly what I was after. Not too dark but not too light either, just right in the middle. The tortoiseshell buttons work really well and add some depth with the darker tone. I got the petite version as although I loved the length of the normal one, it was swamping me slightly. The petite length is more practical while still being long and gives a flattering finish.
It’s a really great addition to my wardrobe especially with my current neutral obsession. I have already thought of 100 different ways to wear it and most involve a full neutral colour palette with different shades of beige which usually I’d feel is too matchy matchy but in this case, I love it.
I was just talking about changing my shopping habits however I feel like this is an acceptable exception (trying saying that quickly). This is a piece that will be in my wardrobe for years to come, as long as I don’t spill something all over it that is. Even if I do, having picked it up whilst in the sale is great as the cost per wear will be so low.
What do you think?
