Occasion Wear

Good Morning,

It’s that point in the transition between Winter and Spring where there is a definite shift in outfit choices and Spring style takes more of a lead. Lighter tones are favoured and less layers required which is always welcomed after a long period of covering up.

Events start creeping into the calendar whether it’s birthday celebrations, weddings, christenings, baby showers, ladies day at the races – it’s all happening and I much prefer styling for occasions in Spring and Summer than in Autumn or Winter.

There’s something uplifting about wearing lighter or brighter tones and being able to wear what you want instead of what’s going to be appropriate or comfortable depending on the weather. Of course weather is always a factor in Scotland and even in high summer, it can feel like Autumn or Winter at times however for the most part, there is more freedom and less restrictions.

I’ve recently been collaborating with Kurt Geiger and on the latest project they requested a ‘Wedding Guest’ look featuring the beautiful Aronite shoes. There was no creative control, no requirement to post the photos or other guidelines to follow which is really liberating however I wanted to share anyway. As the shoes are super elegant I wanted to go for a more formal day guest look and I knew this dress which I bought last summer, would be the perfect option. It’s such a beautifully designed piece with so much detail and flair. The shade of pink is perfect for Spring and a nice way to ease into a more colourful palette after months of wearing darker and duller tones.

All in all this is a great outfit for a variety of occasions. The shoes and bag are really versatile and wearable with lots of different outfit styles.
