We’re reaching that point where it’s acceptable to wear less layers of clothing and Spring dresses are finally making an appearance. It’s still a little chilly some days and today’s outfit is the perfect combination.
I’m a sucker for white lace or white broderie anglaise, there’s something about the delicate texture and design that draws me in and as a result I’ve got loads of dresses and blouses in this style. When I first spotted this particular broderie anglaise dress I was attracted to the different style and shape from the designs I already own. The square neckline, which I appreciate you can’t see in the photos is really flattering and not something I’d ordinarily go for. The dress itself is really similar to the classic Zimmerman styles and it’s a great affordable alternative.
While it’s a beautiful summer dress and will be great for holidays and occasions here in the UK (if we get a good summer), it’s not something I could wear right now on it’s own. Throwing a chunky knit over the top makes it ideal though and gives the option to wear from Spring to Summer.
I love the contrast of textures and materials between the delicate broderie anglaise and the thick knitwear. The beige tone is also great and avoids taking too much away from the dress.
Another way to make dresses wearable at the moment is to pair with boots. My Louis Vuitton Trail Boots are a perfect match and give a bit of an edge to the look. The dress is very soft and feminine and the boots are bold.
I’ve added a little cross body bag which is in perfect proportion to the outfit and the gold hardware is in fitting with the neutral tones and brings it all together.
