Effective Layering

Good Morning,

Staying cosy through winter while looking chic is quite a hard thing to achieve. On the one hand you want to cover up in as many layers as possible but in reality, it doesn’t always result in a good look.

Layering is always key and it works best when it’s not overly obvious. I always wear a thermal top underneath my knitwear mainly to avoid any itchiness but also because I find thin layers keep the warmth in better than thick and bulky ones.

This oversized knit from Topshop is a great winter wardrobe essential. The pale tone of grey is light and uplifting and the accents such as the thick rolled effect sleeves add depth. The turtle neck is really high and sometimes I roll down as it can get in the way. The ribbed detail is also great and makes it look a bit more luxurious.

One thing I love pairing with knitwear is leather, faux of course. These paperbag style leather trousers from the Michelle Keegan range at Very are a firm favourite. I especially like that the leather is matte and not a shiny or tacky finish. It makes them look way more expensive than they actually are.

I’ve added some detail with my snake print booties. The grey finish makes them easy to style and they work well with the knit.

My little YSL LouLou bag is the perfect accessory. The silver hardware works great with grey pieces and the quilted finish is really luxurious.
