A good blazer is a wardrobe essential for me. It can be dressed up or down, thrown on to run errands and it’s a failsafe option for days when you don’t know what to wear or simply CBA. It’s also great at the moment to put on over a basic t-shirt or top while working from home and joining video calls or zoom meetings. While my daily catch ups with my colleagues are fine to do in my pyjamas or loungewear, I have some lined up with externals this week and I will need to make myself look presentable, at least on the top half. I’m planning to wear this top and blazer combo as it’s still comfortable but looks like I’ve made a bit of an effort. I’ll likely still have joggers or sweatpants on the bottom as I’m not someone who wears jeans at home. I wouldn’t ever sit on the sofa watching the tv wearing jeans normally and I’m certainly not going to start now although maybe I should as deterrent from constantly eating. I’m pretty sure a lot of my jeans will be tight when it comes to leaving the house again. By that point it’s likely be summer and hopefully we’ll get some decent weather as a reward for the months spent at home. If so I’ll be relying on floaty dresses and skirts to disguise the inevitable weight gain.
My paperbag waist jeans are also a great casual option. The high waist and wider leg are forgiving and rolling the hems add a little bit of detail and helps them fit my short legs. Trainers are my go to for casual days and I’ve had so much wear out of this pair before commencing lockdown. They are a dupe for the Alexander McQueen’s at a fraction of the price and are really comfortable.
While the blazer has the checked print, instead of playing safe with a neutral or plain bag, I’ve clashed with my new snakeprint one kindly gifted by Steve Madden. I feel like the pictures don’t do it justice but it’s such a lovely bag. The shape and size is perfect for everyday wear and I like the short handle as opposed to the chunky cross body strap.
