I know it’s a bank holiday weekend for some and while it’s not for me sadly, I’ll make the best of the weekend anyway. I’ve been making a conscious effort to try and make Saturday’s and Sunday’s feel different from weekdays. It’s not easy as every day is generally the same but I’m in quite a good routine with it now and enjoying it.
Last Friday night after a week of feeling pretty flat I put on some fake tan. I bought Bondi Sands to try as the other one I usually use is instant. It transfers onto clothing very easily and while it washes off (even white dresses) I wanted something that would last longer and stain less. After I showered on Saturday morning, I was instantly in a better mood. The tan had given me a boost and gee’d me up for the day. I was more productive than I’ve been for a while and I barely looked at my phone. There’s nothing worse under normal circumstances to be at your desk on a Monday morning not feeling like you’ve had a weekend and for some reason, Monday mornings come round hella quick during lockdown. I wish Friday’s came about just as quickly but sadly it doesn’t seem to work like that.
Anyway on to this spectacular dress which is hands down one of my best purchases ever. River Island are really killing it this Spring / Summer season with beautiful designs, prints and patterns and this dress definitely tops the list. First of all, it’s 100% cotton which is amazing as it’s a breathable and high quality fabric. Secondly, it looks way more expensive than it actually is. The detail is impeccable, I don’t even know where to begin. The high collar neck is such a feature with the circular trim and exaggerated length. There is fitted slip underneath which maintains your modesty and it’s not at all transparent. The cut out detail on the sleeves is STUNNING and I love that it continues on the fluted cuffs. My favourite part though is the pearl buttons. If they had put normal buttons on this it would still have been a nice dress but the pearl detail takes it to another level. The shape, the fit and the design are all so well done and I’m glad I managed to get this in my size as I know it’ll be a sell out soon if not already.
I may not have anywhere to go at the moment however this dress will be ready and waiting for an occasion hopefully in the not so distant future.
