True Blue

Good Morning,

I’m all about blue this week. It’s always been one of my favourite colours but more recently I’ve been loving bolder and brighter hues as opposed to pastel or navy tones. I picked up this dress from Zara a few months ago and it’s one I’m desperate to wear as soon as I have an occasion or event worthy of dressing up a bit. In the meantime I’ll wear it casually as I’m getting a bit bored of loungewear and dresses are forgiving at the moment having gained some lockdown weight as a result of eating a lot and hardly moving. That will hopefully change now that more interactions are allowed outdoors.

I mentioned in a previous post about this dress going into the special prices section of Zara shortly after I’d purchased. It looks like it’s sold out now and I’m not surprised, it was a total bargain at £19.99. It’s got a lot going on which I’d normally avoid as that can overwhelm my petite frame but for some reason with this dress, it just works. The puffed up shoulders create some volume and the layered ruffles draw the eyes down. The cutwork embroidery is beautiful and I love that some parts opaque while others are lined. It would have been a challenge to get an appropriate colour slip to wear underneath so I’m glad they considered this as it’s not always the way.

My chunky Balenciaga’s totally clash with the feminine style of the dress but for some reason I like the combination. A little cross body bag is all that’s needed and finishes off the look.
