I’m back to reality today after a blissful 11 days off work. It wasn’t as originally planned and I’ll be honest there were more than a few moments when I wished I was in Mexico, carefree, relaxing and soaking up the vitamin sea however I still managed to enjoy and make the best of it. I had lovely long lies and leisurely mornings and indulged in a number of cheesy festive movies. Once my birthday is over I’m 100% in the festive mood and this year I especially want to enjoy the lead up to Christmas while cosy at home. I don’t have the back to work blues as bad as normal as I love working from home however it’s early days and I might change my mind after I’ve checked my email inbox and got through my first meeting…
I managed to do the remainder of my Christmas shopping on Black Friday, taking advantage of the great deals available while making my money go further. I had my lists at the ready and added things to my basket in advance to make shopping on the day easier and less stressful. A few things were out of stock but I managed to quickly find suitable alternatives and now I’m just waiting on the last things arriving now. I’ve made a start on my wrapping but it’ll be a gradual process over the next few weeks. We’re stuck at home anyway so may as well spread it out rather than doing it all in one go. I like to take my time with it and do in little batches as otherwise I get bored and don’t take as much care then get annoyed that the presents don’t look neat.
While I’m looking forward to Christmas and finally being able to spend time with loved ones I also can’t believe it’s this time of year already. Although it’s been a dismal year, the time has still passed quickly. Next year will likely be the same as we’ll be cramming in as much as possible once the vaccine has been rolled out to make up for lost time. There’s so many things we haven’t been able to celebrate but most of all we’ll be celebrating the joy of this testing period in our lives beginning to end.
