Good Morning,
As Autumn began I realised I was missing a key piece in my wardrobe – a classic black coat. I’ve got a black and white patterned coat which I love and still wear even though I’ve had it for 5+ years but I don’t appear to have ever had a plain black coat. I’ve had parka’s and puffer jackets over the years but always seem to have opted for grey, camel or colours when it comes to my coat choices. That has now changed and I’m in possession of a really simple yet smart black coat which I can wear casually or formally.
This a really affordable option yet the quality is high. I have the same one in the neutral tone and absolutely love the cut and simplistic finish with no major design features, just the lapel collar and pockets which is all you really need. The simplest options are often the best and that’s how I feel about this coat. It’s really easy to style which is always a good indicator for adding a new piece to your wardrobe. It’s one of those pieces that I wonder how I managed without it all this time as it’s a firm wardrobe staple and something I’m sure most people have in some form or other. While it’s a piece that I’d ordinarily wear for work or for smarter occasions, under the current circumstances that’s not possible and instead I can only really style it casually to run errands or to go for a walk.
I quite like contrasting pieces that can be worn formally with more casual and dressed down attire. The faux leather paperbag waist trousers have a smart/casual vibe and work well against the textured coat. A grey tee cuts through the black silhouette and is a comfortable but chic option. The white trainers with custom laces tie in well with the overall look. My XXL Kensington bag with the smooth buttery leather is the perfect accompaniment and I can’t wait to use this more when we get back to some sort of normality.
xo!
