Good Morning,
In case it wasn’t already apparent, I’m not done with coords just yet. I’m happy to see River Island have brought back the pink ‘Señorita‘ set alongside the Zimmermann inspired set for this Summer season. They’ve also brought out a similar but different version in this floral embroidered set. There are two blouse options, a high neck lace trimmed one alongside this beautiful Peter Pan style collared one. I originally ordered both as I couldn’t decide but ended up only keeping the Peter Pan collar one as it’s different to any other blouses I already own.
The detail is intricate with sheer lace piping, pleats and floral embroidery. The colouring on the collar and trim is on the pastel side with soft pink, a sage green, lemon yellow and a pale blue. This makes it easy to style with other colours, items and accessories already in my wardrobe. The shape is beautiful and it’s such a striking piece on it’s own but even more so when worn with the coordinating shorts.
I’ll be honest, the shorts are on the short side and I’m short (160cm). Did I really use that word 3 times in one short sentence? I wasn’t sure if I’d keep them initially but I love the set and knew I’d ultimately regret returning them. They are a paperbag waist style with a wide tie enabling you to get the perfect fit. They have pockets (winner) and are not at all see through which is a real bonus and at times hard to find when it comes to white. The floral detail continues down the side and along the bottom of the shorts. Again, it’s subtle but effective and just enough and not too much. I’m not a huge floral lover but when the design is sympathetic and not overpowering, I’m in.
Neutral accessories avoid taking any attention away from the coord and compliment and finish off the look. I’m a big fan of neutral staples which I can wear over and over again and mix with more bold and statement looks. I’ve gradually curated a great collection over the last few years and no longer have that horrible feeling of not having anything to match as they seamlessly go with everything whether it’s a simple or more detailed outfit.
xo!
