Good Morning,
We’re right in the midst of Summer and although we’ve had a few scorching days here and there, the weather has been quintessentially ‘Scottish’ i.e a mixed bag. It can be mild and sunny one minute then torrential rain and dreich the next. Despite living in Scotland for almost all of my 30 years, I never seem to get used to the unpredictability and every time Summer rolls around and I remember how challenging it is to dress for a typical Scottish Summer day.
This outfit is a prime example of the kind of combination of clothing that can be required in the middle of Summer in good old Scots land. Knitwear on top, shorts on the bottom. In fairness, this is actually a pretty practical option if I do say so myself. The knitted coord consists of a separate top and cardi therefore if it stays nice, warm and sunny, I can lose the cardigan and I’ve got a little crop top with shorts which is more in line with what you expect to wear in Summer. The cardi gives coverage and warmth if the sun decides to play hide and seek behind the clouds and the pastel pink tone is nice, bright and uplifting.
These shorts have become such a staple for me. First off, they are really comfortable as they are high waisted and secured with a zip at the back and easy to get on and off without having to squeeze and manoeuvre the ever expanding peach. Secondly, they are super sweet and chic and make it look like I’ve made an effort when in reality all I’ve done is slide on some shorts and headed out the door. I live for having options like this in my wardrobe as I get older and spend less time deciding what to wear, will it be suitable, will I be overdressed, will I be underdressed – it’s exhausting. I throw these on and get on with the day, grabbing an iced matcha latte on the way…
xo!
