The Zara Summer sale was a bit of a fiasco this year and I didn’t even step foot inside the store. They gave us a preview of what would be going into sale which was appreciated and meant we could have everything in our bags ready to checkout however this combined with viral TikTok and Instagram posts elevated the awareness of the sale starting, increasing demand and resulting in most things selling out within a minute or two of going live. I originally had about 8 things in my basket so not a huge volume but it was pieces I was prepared to pay full price for. I got 3 out of the 8 in the 2 seconds it took to hit checkout and was happy with that as I know a lot of people didn’t manage to get anything.
Having been in store recently, I knew there wasn’t a great selection of stock and therefore didn’t bother visiting. As always, there is a lull between the sale starting, things selling out, people returning and items coming back in stock. I checked the app each day to see if any of the other pieces I had my eye on would come back and luckily the two main things I was after (this blazer and shorts coord) did and I snapped them up.
Zara blazers are such great value for money and long lasting. I’ve had so many over the years, most of which I still have as they are in great condition and are staples in my everyday wardrobe whether it’s for work or leisure. This particular one is my favourite style with the structured shoulders, double breasted detail and overall tailored fit. The textured and tweed like material is right up my street and the silver buttons stand out in contrast to the fabric. It’s a good length and is not too short or too long which can sometimes be the case with blazers.
Of course I couldn’t resist the matching shorts although I think I’ll get more wear out of each piece as separates rather than wearing as a coord but it’s good to have options. I sized up in the shorts as I found the XS to be a little bit tight and I wanted them to be comfortable as otherwise there’s little chance I’d actually wear them. It’s great it looks like a skirt but is actually shorts because I don’t think I’d be comfortable wearing a skirt as short as this anymore. I love the bright tone of pink, it’s probably as bold as I’ll go in terms of colour but for Summer I like to get out my comfort zone. Wearing as a set gives me Elle Woods vibes from Legally Blonde albeit a little less glamorous, would you agree?
