Tweed is one of my absolute favourite fabrics which I’m sure is obvious from the amount of times I wear and share it on here. Originating here in Scotland, it’s a cult classic and proves practical first and foremost. The rough and textured design is what I love most about it. The different colours of woven thread are instantly recognisable and there are an infinite amount of designs and patterns that can be made. It contrasts well against other materials such as smooth leather or delicate lace, making it stand out and catch attention.
I wear tweed all year round and it’s one of those classic and non-trend designs that transcend through the seasons in a way that others can’t. It’s a regular feature in my wardrobe from blazers to skirts, bags and shoes, I’ve got plenty tweed options to choose from in the height of Summer as well as the darkest depths of Winter. It’s an easy option if you’re unsure about what wear, tweed is always a good idea and can be dressed up or down as required. It also has a naturally luxurious look and feel to it. Chanel are renowned for their tweed ready to wear pieces, you see them on the catwalk every time fashion week rolls around and throughout their stores across the world. It’s a globally recognised style that has stood the test of time and continues to be a key feature.
I’ve rounded up some of my favourite styles available at the moment if you’re also a fan. I’ve included boucle and other textured materials as they kind of fall into the same category. It’s taking all of my willpower not to add more tweed into my collection as there are some beautiful pieces available.
