SPOTLIGHT Indonesia 2024: Celebrating Diversity with the Theme of Cultural Fusion

Petite Paulina – The Indonesia Fashion Chamber (IFC), in collaboration with Gemalindo Kreasi Indonesia, presents the grand event SPOTLIGHT Indonesia 2024. With the theme “Cultural Fusion,” this event took place on December 12-15, 2024, at the Assembly Hall, Jakarta Convention Center (JCC).

In its third edition, SPOTLIGHT Indonesia celebrates and preserves the diversity of Indonesian culture and crafts through contemporary fashion. The event aims to establish Indonesia as a global destination for sustainable ready-to-wear fashion. It highlights local materials and craftsmanship.

The event includes various activities such as fashion shows, exhibitions, competitions, workshops, talk shows, and fashion installations. These activities facilitate collaboration between designers, artisans, and fashion enthusiasts. Moreover, SPOTLIGHT Indonesia emphasizes inclusivity and sustainability. It showcases the works of more than 100 Indonesian designers and brands. These range from formal wear, casual/street wear, men’s wear, to modest wear.

A New Venue for Growing Enthusiasm

Lenny Agustin, National Chair of IFC, explained why they chose JCC as the venue this year. “With the increasing enthusiasm of fashion stakeholders, we chose JCC to accommodate more visitors. It also provides a larger space to showcase the beauty of Indonesian textiles and culture.”

The opening ceremony featured a parade of Muslim fashion. This was part of the Road to IN2MF 2025, supported by various Bank Indonesia representatives from different provinces. The Muslim fashion collection remains an integral part of SPOTLIGHT Indonesia. It focuses on its economic potential in the international market.

Celebration of Creativity and Sustainability

SPOTLIGHT Indonesia 2024 also held a competition to recognize designers committed to sustainable fashion. House of Inang won the title of “Best Sustainable Brands” this year.

Over four days, SPOTLIGHT Indonesia attracted more than 6,700 visitors. It generated transactions worth over two billion rupiahs. The event was officially closed by the Minister of Cooperatives and SMEs and the Director General of National Export Development. The closing ceremony featured a fashion parade. This highlighted contemporary Indonesian fashion.

SPOTLIGHT Indonesia 2024 not only celebrates the diversity of Indonesian fashion but also marks the culmination of IFC’s year-long activities. It is also the 9th anniversary of IFC. “We hope IFC can continue to contribute to the development of Indonesia’s fashion industry ecosystem. We also aim to realize the dream of making Indonesia a global fashion center,” said Lenny Agustin.
